5 things to keep you strong

This is from our weekly newsletter - in which we share 5 things: a round up of resources and recommendations. If you haven't already, sign up here

ALWAYS LISTENING, ALWAYS LEARNING

It’s been a privilege to spend the past week learning, listening and educating ourselves on the changes that we can make in both in our personal and professional life to amplify black voices, especially in the world of art. We are still pausing the blog this week to keep the focus on embedding these practices. So that the work does not stop here.

We'll be back next week with some supercharged self-care tips!

For now, check out our top 5 of the week below.

5 THINGS

Resources, reads and recommendations to enjoy with a cuppa and a moment to pause...

01. COFFEE HOUR WITH LUCIAN MSAMATI The MonoBox are having a free coffee hour with #GangsOfLondon and #Amadeus actor for a discussion about his career and share ideas about the future of acting. Book your free spot here.

02. NATIONAL THEATRE AT HOME For the final round of free theatre, The National have not disappointed! You can see the full line up here. Small Island is hella relevant right now and addresses the Windrush scandal. So that will be in our diary for sure. We also saw The Deep Blue Sea on stage and it was everything. So watch out for that on the 9th of July

03. MARY BEARD ON STATUES

This week of statues being a hot topic of discussion for many. Badass historian Mary Beard provides a refreshing look at the purpose of them -  and how we can move forward with idolisation. With Sadiq Khan's review of London statues coming up - this might is a great read. You can read her essay here.

04. BRENE BROWN AND AUSTIN CHANNING BROWN ON BLACK DIGNITY

As usual Brene Brown is serving up some real talk with her incredible podcast guests, this time they are talking race. This frank and heartfelt conversation looking at the honest truths of white priveledges and defence tactics of the pesky ego gave me my stop walking, "oh my god", moment this week. Listen here

05.  THE PEANUT BUTTER FALCON

Because in order to keep making change, we need to look after ourselves too. Plus the weather has tur

ned so grey we need something bright and beautiful to keep us going. An incredible performance from Shia LaBeouf and a beautiful story of friendship across divides - watching this will definitely help you find the energy to keep fighting the good fight. Check it out here.
